Flaming Sword Bromeliad care is easy, which adds to this plant’s popularity. The wide arching leaves have the most striking zebra appearance about them and grow up to 1½ ft in length. The long flower head that rises well above the foliage has bright red bracts, shaped kind of like a sword and flat.
4 inch nursery pot. May be different than pictured.
Light- Bright light without direct sunlight is preferable.
Water- Place distilled or filtered water in the central cup of the plant and replace frequently to keep it from rotting. Keep the potting mix moist during the spring and the summer months. The vase needs to be kept topped up with water which should be emptied and replaced every two-three weeks . The soil is best watered when it becomes slightly dry at the top, and avoid over-watering.
Humidity- Guzmanias thrive in temperatures of at least 55 F. (13 C.) or higher. Because these are tropical plants, they benefit from moderate-to-high humidity. A light mist daily will keep your guzmania looking its best.
Soil- Great drainage.
