Cryptanthus zonatus, a.k.a. Earth Star, is such a striking little terrestrial bromeliad with that dramatic striped starburst form. Despite the flat shape, these plants can reach up to two feet across. when outdoors, but doesn't get very tall.
A striped starburst of color in compact form, this Earth Star is easy to care for, pet-friendly, and perfect for brightening any small space.
Flowers once. Unfortunately, the cryptanthus plants only lives a short time after flowering.
It may take several years to flower.
Propagate the plant and extend its life.
The cryptanthus plant won’t survive freezing winter temperatures. It’s native to humid conditions.
4 inch nursery pot.
Water- Water when top 2 inches of soil is dry. Try bottom watering. Don’t pour water into the rosette. Always water the soil, as water can get trapped in the leaves and cause mildew or fungal growth.
Light- Indirect, Bright light.
Soil- Porous moist soil with good drainage
